British Tinnitus Association logoThe British Tinnitus Association had a problem. It was doing great work raising awareness of a very difficult condition as well as promoting research and helping those who support people with tinnitus, but the fact was, no one knew who they were. So they asked us to give them a new logo. We approached the project knowing we had a lot to learn. Like the majority of the public, we knew little about the condition, so we did lots of research before we even picked up our pencils. When we finally began drawing, it was with a strong understanding of this difficult condition and the status the BTA enjoys. The result is a logo that firmly establishes the BTA for what it is. An image suggestive of the rising lights of a graphic equaliser dominates the logo, hinting at the fluctuating levels of noise and sound a sufferer can endure. Meanwhile, the charity’s name is delivered in a sober, strong font contained within an authoritative rectangle – the inference being that this is a charity that’s to be taken seriously. Finally, we gave the BTA a new strapline – ‘A world leader in support and advice’ – establishing them as the worldwide, respected voice of the tinnitus community. |
